Advanced Beginner 

Beginner: under one year of instruction.*

A Beginner is a competitor who has not taken a full year of music lessons. A Beginner must move into the Advanced Beginner category after one full year of study or have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the Beginner level.

Master

Advanced Beginner: A competitor who has studied their voice/instrument for 2-3 years.*

An advanced beginner who wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd place will advance to the Novice level, regardless of their years of study.

Master Level is ONLY open to students who have placed first in the Preliminary Master category.

Preliminary Master is ONLY open to  students who have placed first in the Prizewinner category.

A Preliminary Master who places 1st in their category will advance to the Master level. 







Prizewinner: A competitor who has studied their voice/instrument for 6-7 years.*

A Prizewinner who wins 1st place will advance to the Preliminary Master level, regardless of their years of study. 

* Suggested level. If you feel your child (student) is not ready for this level then you may enter the lower level. If you feel that your child (student) is advanced beyond the years of their peers then you may enter them a a higher level; however, no one is to enter on the Master level and only the most advanced students with a very high level of proficiency should enter at the Preliminary Master level.


Novice: A competitor who has studied their voice/instrument for 4-5 years.*

A Novice who wins 1st place will advance to the Prizewinner level, regardless of their years of study.
